Three Easy Ways to Save on Back-to-School Shopping

It’s the first week of August and you know what that means… summer is almost over. Womp, womp!

On the bright side, this is the perfect time to put your detective hat on to hunt for savings ahead of the school year. Here are three simple ways to get your money’s worth while shopping this fall:

1. Take Advantage of State Tax Holidays

If you’re not familiar with tax holidays, it’s a weekend where some states give you a sales tax break on certain items usually clothes, shoes, or school supplies.

Not all states participate, but if you’re lucky enough to live in a state that does, stock up on items you need and enjoy major tax savings. Woot, woot! Click here for a full list of the 2016 tax free weekends.

2. Use a Student ID for Savings

A student ID could be your ticket to major savings this fall especially on pricey electronic items.

Apple, Best Buy, Sony, ways-to-saveand Microsoft all have student discounts on certain products! All you need to do is present your ID, prove that whoever buys the products is in fact a student, and follow discount procedure.

Don’t forget to bring your ID while shopping at other stores too just in case there’s a discount.

(If you have a military ID, don’t be shy with that card either. You know the drill!)

3. Sign Up for Ebates and Get the Ebates Button

Earning cash back for spending through Ebates is one of my favorite ways to save on all types of products y’all.

With Ebates, you can get FREE cash back (up to 40%) when you shop with participating merchants online like Kohls, Office Depot, and much much more.

I’ve used Ebates for travel and Amazon. It pays off, my friend.

Just take a look at my Ebates account balance!

Step 3: Underneath the email and password fields, there’s a “Did someone refer you?” I did! Click on it and type in my email address TheBudgetnista@gmail.com (make sure to spell The Budgetnista right).

Step 4: After you’re all signed up, download the Ebates button for your browser. This is an important step.

Whenever you’re online, this button extension will show you every time a website you’re on offers cash back with Ebates.

Bottom line: This button is the business.

Here’s how it works: The button pops up in the top, right corner of your screen (see pic below), when a website that you’re visiting is offering Ebates cash back. This way you NEVER miss an opportunity to earn. Woot Woot!

My Lisa Rule: I have 4 sisters and Lisa is the baby (we’ll she’s not a baby anymore). Of all of my sisters, I’m the most protective over her. Before I share any product or service with you, it must pass my Lisa Rule.

What’s the Lisa Rule? If I would not advise Lisa to use a product or service, I won’t advise you to. YOU are my Lisas. I feel protective over you and your financial journey.

Ebates passes my Lisa Rule. Yes, I am an affiliate of Ebates, and I earn a commission off of referrals, but I would not recommend a product or service that I didn’t believe was helpful and useful.
