How We Use Fake Checks to Pad Our Bank Accounts- Insider Tips on Using Phony Checks

Why didn't I ever think of the fake check method? Jail time is impossible if you do this right. I'm sooooo gonna try this with everything!Fake checks are not all bad. We use them all the time and they work! You just fill them out and deposit them like a real check….

Wait before you go all “Frank Abagnale” on me, I have to explain how this method works. I’ll start with how it all began.

My children and I are learning about investing and are now taking a cool investing class. For the class, we had created a “virtual portfolio” using Google Finance. We put $5,000 each into our portfolios, picked some stocks and began to watch the movement of our stocks and overall portfolio over time. My kids were semi-interested in this activity but not that excited because it wasn’t real money. Although this was fun for me, I wanted them to take this activity to heart. The only idea that came to me was to create “fake checks” for money they could use to invest for real. As soon as the thought came, I went to find a checkbook. (I mean who even writes checks these days?)  I scribbled out two checks in my children’s names for $500 each. Now, the next part is optional or you can tweak based on your beliefs. This is what we did, but you do what will give you the most peace. This is just how we roll around here…

I showed my children the checks and said, “We are going to believe that God will supply the money to back these checks, ok?” They were in agreement. We placed our hands on the checks and said a prayer to the effect of:

Lord, you supply all of our needs. We thank you that these checks are backed with REAL funds and ready to be deposited for investing. Checks, we speak to you and command you to be backed with real money! You are real checks with real funds attached and can be used as legal tender for our investing purposes! Father, we thank you that this is so in Jesus’ name, Amen.

I kept the checks in a visible place, so we could see them and be reminded of what we had prayed and what we were believing to happen with the checks.

This might sound unbelievable, but let me tell you something: the money came through in a little over one month! Both checks became funded! I have mentioned many times before that my children are professional actresses who get TV and voice-over work. It’s a tough business, though. My kids have had really dry seasons- I mean no auditions, no money, no nothing. So what happened here was what I really believe to be supernatural intervention. First, an unexpected check came in. My oldest daughter was paid for a voice-over job she did last year. The client used it again this year, so they had to pay again! Then, my youngest daughter got a hefty commission check from a national radio spot she booked earlier this year and just last week booked a TV commercial job. This all added up to those fake checks being fully funded! (Note: NEVER EVER EVER deposit a check that is not backed with money in any account. NEVER. This is real fraud and can cause serious legal recourse.)

Since we are Christians, I wanted to take the opportunity to share the Biblical reasons the process we followed worked:

We Have Authority as Believers to Speak to Inanimate Objects and They Obey

Mark 11:23- For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

God Promised to Supply all of Our Needs

Philippians 4:19- But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

God Gives Seed to Sowers (e.g. Seed to Investors)

2 Corinthians 9:10- Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)

God Gives us What We Can See with Our Eyes & Believe with Our Hearts

Genesis 15:5- And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

Angels are Dispatched on Our Behalf When We Release God’s Word from Our Mouths

Psalm 103:20- Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.

Before you start recommending some behavioral cognitive therapists to help me out, let me point out other “less spooky” or “religious freakazoid” examples of this phenomenon that might be more palatable for you. (Although I highly recommend that you don’t discount the Biblical principles here, because at the end of the day, they worked!) Actor Jim Carey confesses that he wrote himself a $10 million check to keep his goal of being a highly-paid actor in sight.  About 10 years after writing that check,  he was paid $10 million for the movie Dumb & Dumber!  Ari Weinzweig of Zingerman’s Deli used the practice of “visioning” to grow a small-town deli into a $37 million business. Weinzweig says, “A vision, quite simply, is a picture of what success will be at a particular time in the future.” Before the business plan, before the SBA loan, before anything should come the vision. The vision steers the ship!

For those of you that have ever done a “vision board” you can probably attest to how amazing it is that everything you put on your board actually happens in your life! I started creating vision boards with a faith-based running club I was in years ago. The idea here was to “see ourselves” crossing the finish line of the marathon (we put other goals on our boards as well.) Things I placed on the board began to happen so fast, I ended up creating several vision boards for new goals I had in mind. This is how we became totally debt free, obtained a home with no mortgage and are able to continue adding to not only our savings, but our children’s savings as well.

Ready to take your vision to the next level? Check out some resources that will get you started with getting out of debt, investing, understanding faith & finance and even getting your child started with a career in acting and entertainment.

Chime in! Do you have a vision? What are you going to do about it? Comment below to let me know what you are going to use your “fake checks” for!
